Breaching Walden's Wall
Multigig is developing advanced high-speed Analog to Digital Converters using completely new RotaryWave™ based architectures with dramatic benefits in Effective Number of Bits (ENOB) at high frequencies and low power dissipation, thereby advancing the state of the art by several years.
Walden's Wall, shown by the three diagonal blue lines on the chart, represents the aperture jitter which is a well known barrier to the advancement of ADC technology. For example, if the ADC and associated clocking cannot provide better than one picosecond of aperture jitter, then the performance will always be below the solid blue line shown. Similarly, the broken and dashed blue lines show 0.5 picoseconds and 0.2 picoseconds of aperture jitter. RotaryWave™ ADCs break through this wall with extremely low aperture jitter at low power.
